At ESSC we race from March right through until Christmas (weather permitting of course!) We are fortunate to be sheltered by the South Downs and Beachy Head offering us our own little micro-climate – hence Eastbourne’s nickname ‘The Sunshine Coast’!
Our competitions range from class series throughout the season to a number of trophy events which are keenly contested! Our members sail a variety of classes, including:
- RS Aero
- Foiling Moth
- Dart 16
- RS400
- RS Feva
- Spitfire
- RS Cat
- Lasers
- B14
- A Class
The racing can often be viewed from the beach, although the race course will be further out to sea if we’re operating a committee boat start. Our courses are usually windward/leeward for asymmetric boats and either a trapezoid or a triangle for conventional boats.
Our sailing period is typically:

Day | Months Sailed | No of Races | Times |
Sun | March – October | 3 | 11am/2pm |
Sun Frostbite | November – December | 2 | 11am |
Weds | April – August | 1 | 6.30/7pm |
Sat | June – August | Free sailing | 1pm-4pm |

Our Rescue Boats…

Seahorse – Seahorse is our primary rescue boat. It is a Cheetah 5.5m Catamaran, perfect for carrying marks and assisting with rescues.
Sceptre – Our smaller on shore rescue boat, run from the beach for speed and ease.
Greyhound – Our newest small rib running from the beach. Slightly larger than Sceptre, great for running wednesday evening racing.
